Our focus spans machine learning, generative audio, creative tooling, and intelligent production systems. WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking an AI Audio / Machine Learning Engineer Intern with passion for sound, artificial intelligence, and next-gen music technologies. This role is ideal for students interested in:

  • Music Information Retrieval (MIR)

  • Generative AI Audio & Music (diffusion, transformers, RNN/GRU architectures)

  • Signal Processing & Feature Extraction

  • Spatial/3D Audio

  • AI-Assisted Music Composition & Production Tools

The scope can be tailored based on the student’s interests; research-heavy, engineering-focused, creative, or hybrid.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

During this internship, you will:

  • Research, evaluate, and experiment with state-of-the-art audio ML models (speech, music, sound effects, spatial audio, etc.).

  • Build prototype models for tasks such as:

  • Audio classification

  • Beat detection, chord recognition, transcription

  • Audio-to-MIDI conversion

  • Music style transfer and timbre modeling

  • Generative audio (diffusion models, autoregressive systems, or neural DSP)

  • Extract and engineer features from raw audio using DSP and MIR methods.

  • Train, fine-tune, and test models using relevant datasets (open-source or custom).

  • Develop small tools, proof-of-concept applications, or integrations (Python, JS, or Max/MSP optional).

  • Document experiments clearly and contribute to research summaries or technical reports.

  • Present findings weekly and suggest improvements to model performance and workflows.

  • Optional: Evaluate tools in creative workflows (DAWs, VR/AR sound engines, or game engines).


REQUIRED SKILLS & FOUNDATIONS

You should have either coursework or experience in at least one of the following areas:

  • Machine learning or deep learning fundamentals

  • Python experience (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas)

  • Basic digital signal processing concepts (sampling, filtering, FFT)

  • Experience with audio libraries such as:

  • Librosa, Essentia, Torchaudio, or AudioLM-related tools

No prior professional experience is required—just curiosity, willingness to experiment, and strong follow-through.


PREFERRED (NOT REQUIRED) SKILLS

These help but are not mandatory:

  • Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow

  • Audio plugin development (JUCE, VST3, AU)

  • Music theory or composition background

  • Familiarity with ML audio models like:

  • Jukebox, RAVE, MusicGen, AudioLDM, DDSP, SoundStorm, Bark

  • Spatial audio frameworks (Wwise, FMOD, WebAudio, Unity Audio SDK)

  • Experience in VR/AR audio or interactive sound design



EXPECTED DELIVERABLES DURING THE INTERNSHIP

Depending on chosen track (Research / Engineering / Hybrid), the intern will complete:

  • A working model, tool prototype, or research implementation

  • A short technical write-up or research report

  • A dataset report or preprocessing pipeline (if applicable)

  • A final presentation or demo showcasing results
