University Credit · Dual-Enrollment · Course Replacement

A lot of universities give real credit for Forkaia.

This isn’t a one-off. Forkaia internships have been accepted for academic credit at a growing list of universities that includes Rice University, Purdue University, UC Irvine, Cal State Fullerton, Virginia Tech, University of Washington, University of Southern California, and over 120 other institutions. Below are two of the documented precedents — same mechanic, two different schools of engineering, two separate universities, same result: credit awarded.

Two documented precedents.

Different universities. Different schools of engineering. Different departments, courses, and registrars. Same result in each case: Forkaia internships accepted for academic credit through the institution’s existing coursework-report mechanism. Not pilots. Not favors. Real credit, posted to real transcripts.

The internship

A Rice School of Engineering undergraduate completed a Forkaia Software Development Engineer internship during the summer of 2020. Scope: build a central MongoDB database for INSOLAR (a STEALTH portfolio solar-marketplace company), aggregating contact-information data from multiple back-end systems into a single queryable store, exposed via a Flask web application.

Deliverables shipped included a Python preprocessing pipeline that reconciled mismatched schemas, the MongoDB ingestion layer, and a front-end search interface that other INSOLAR staff could use directly — a complete, working single-page application.

The Rice credit

At the end of the summer, the student submitted the Forkaia internship as her formal ENGI 530 Final Report — the School of Engineering’s required reflective-practice coursework. The report covered scope, duties and responsibilities, weaknesses, and future work.

Rice University awarded academic credit for the Forkaia internship against ENGI 530. It counted toward her Rice degree the same as any traditional on-campus engineering practicum.

The internship

A Purdue School of Electrical and Computer Engineering undergraduate completed a Forkaia engineering internship. Scope: contribute to one of the AI- and data-science-centered projects running in the Forkaia Innovation Lab and Startup Academy — the same pattern of practitioner-mentored, deliverable-driven work every Forkaia intern ships.

The intern described Forkaia as a company that “supports and acts upon ideas that can potentially be a successful business,” providing “development, advising, and investment, until the business is ready to stand alone,” with an Innovation Lab, Startup Academy, Creative Lab, and Talent Agency sitting under one platform.

The Purdue credit

The student submitted the Forkaia internship as a formal Internship Work Report to the Purdue School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, with the Forkaia supervisor’s signature as the required approval. Purdue awarded academic credit for the Forkaia work.

Same mechanic as Rice. Different university. Same result.

Two of the top engineering schools in the United States have awarded academic credit for Forkaia internships through their own standard coursework mechanisms. Neither required us to invent anything new — we delivered the same artifacts the registrar already asks for. If Rice and Purdue work, your institution works.

The pattern across 120+ partner institutions

How a university awards credit for a Forkaia internship.

The mechanic is simple. Every Forkaia internship generates the three artifacts a university registrar needs to approve credit.

01

Signed scope & hours

Every Forkaia internship opens with a scope-of-work document signed by the student’s advisor and the Dean’s office. Hours are tracked in the workspace dashboard. Registrars see a documented contract — not a vague arrangement.

02

Verifiable deliverable

The internship concludes with a public, employer-verifiable deliverable — code shipped, model trained, report published. Universities review the artifact directly against their course rubric. The work speaks for itself.

03

Dean’s performance letter

The Dean issues a signed performance evaluation letter — the same format on file for every Forkaia graduate. It serves as the faculty evaluation the registrar needs to post the credit. Rice registered Xinyue’s letter directly against ENGI 530.

For universities: how to partner.

Three pathways. Each one lets your students accumulate verifiable work credentials in parallel with their traditional degree, with full administrative traceability.

A

Course credit replacement

Your institution designates one existing course (practicum, internship credit, applied-project elective) that a Forkaia internship can fulfill. The Rice ENGI 530 model. Zero overhead on your registrar — we deliver the artifacts your rubric already requires.

B

Dual-enrollment

Students enroll at Forkaia and at your institution simultaneously. Forkaia credits roll into their transcript as transfer units. Available at tuition-partnership rates for enrolled undergraduates.

C

Institutional capacity partnership

Your institution licenses the Forkaia platform for its own students. Branded as your program; delivered on our infrastructure. For universities ready to go beyond individual credit toward a full career-education capability.

For your registrar.

Every artifact your institution’s academic affairs office needs for a credit-review conversation sits in the Dean’s office — the signed internship scope, the shipped deliverable, the Dean’s performance letter, and the student’s final report. Rice University worked from the same artifacts when it awarded Xinyue Cui ENGI 530 credit.

We don’t publish student files or past evaluations on the public web — they stay confidential to the student and the receiving registrar. Reach out and we’ll walk your academic affairs team through what we provide, what we require, and how the Rice precedent translates to your course rubric.

Make Forkaia a credited track at your institution.

The Rice case took four weeks of registrar coordination. Your institution can be next. Email the Dean’s office with “University credit inquiry” and we’ll walk you through the three pathways.
