Forkaia · The School of Work
Manifesto · Chapter 00
◆ WHY NOT COLLEGE
Skip college. Ship work. Get hired.

College is over.

This isn't a discount on it. It isn't an alternative to it. It isn't a supplement to it. Forkaia · The School of Work is what comes after — because college was invented in 1088, the diploma was invented in 1150, the internship was invented in 1906, and none of them survive contact with the market we're actually in.

◆ CHAPTER 01

The diploma is a receipt.

You didn't earn a skill. You bought four years. The diploma is proof of purchase, not proof of ability. Employers stopped believing it a decade ago — 62% of hiring managers now say they hire without requiring a degree, and that number climbs every year. The receipt still costs $160,000.

"A degree used to be a filter. Now it's a fee."

Forkaia is what employers actually want: verified evidence you can do the work. Not a receipt for having attended.

◆ CHAPTER 02

$160,000 for a degree ChatGPT can now write.

The four-year college was built to certify literacy, numeracy, and the ability to write a 20-page paper. All three are now free features of a Chrome tab. The assessment mechanism — essays, exams, papers — was the whole product. The mechanism failed in November 2022. The building is still standing. The tuition is still $40,000 a year. The graduates still can't ship anything.

"The essay is dead. Multiple choice is dead. Everything a college does to grade you can be done by a $20/month AI. Everything it fails to prepare you for cannot."

Forkaia's assessment is unforgeable: ship real work, at a real company, to a real hiring manager. That work is either used or it isn't. AI can help you. AI can't ship for you.

◆ CHAPTER 03

Employers already stopped requiring it.

Google, Apple, IBM, Bank of America, Delta, Costco, Tesla, Anthropic, Netflix, Stripe. All of them dropped the degree requirement for most roles. The Department of Labor's data shows 62% of open U.S. jobs no longer require a four-year degree — up from 40% in 2019. The market moved. The colleges didn't tell you.

"Employers vote with hiring, not with commencement invitations. The vote has been in for years."

Forkaia sits inside 700+ companies where the hiring is happening. The route from student to hire is one relationship, one shipped task, one warm intro.

◆ CHAPTER 04

The internship was invented in 1906.

The internship — the entire scaffolding that lets a college student meet a real employer — was designed for a manufacturing economy where you learned on the factory floor for a summer. It has never been redesigned. The best-case internship in 2026 still means: apply months in advance, hope for one of a few slots, spend a summer making coffee, hope for a return offer that increasingly doesn't come. This is the pipeline every college points to as its "career preparation."

"An education system whose crown-jewel outcome is a 12-week unpaid summer program is not an education system. It's a waiting room."

Forkaia runs the internship the way it should have been designed: every day of your enrollment is real work for real companies. No 12-week wait. No coffee. No hoping.

◆ CHAPTER 05

Work is the new credential.

The next hundred years of hiring will not care what you attended. They will care what you shipped, who you shipped it with, and whether the person who received it hired you or introduced you to the person who did. The credential that survives is the artifact. The credential that fails is the diploma.

"The transcript is the portfolio. The diploma is the ceremony. Only one of them gets you paid."

Forkaia issues both. Portfolio + transcript + real employer signatures. Cap and gown optional but included.
